BRIEF HISTORY OF NEZ

Welcome to the electronic home of Nu Epsilon Zeta Alumni.

In 1921, E. Frederick Lowe decided to start a fraternity and the rest is history.  In 1996, we created this web site to recognize those 75 years.  Nu Epsilon Zeta's history and the men who made it happen, throughout that period, will become the focus of this site, which we appropriately title NEZhome.

75 years is a long time for a local fraternity to survive.  From the beginning, Northeastern University was not too friendly to fraternities, in fact, it was only shortly before E. Frederick called his first meeting, that Northeastern had closed down all the national fraternities.  Why he did it, most of us will never know.  That he did it, however, provided us with friends and memories that will continue for the rest of our lives.

We urge each brother, who sees this site, to sign on and encourage others to do similarly.  This is an opportunity for us to renew, and maintain, a way of life that, for many, probably represented the best years of our lives.  Through the Internet, we have the opportunity to move into the ole frat house again.  It is not 255 St. Paul Street or 388 The Arborway, but its still home.  So, pull up a chair, have a cool one and tell us some NEZ stories that we can pass on to the rest of the Brothers.

This site has no pride of authorship.  We know that there are gifted Brothers who majored in journalism.  We would greatly appreciate their help.  Until then, we will treat you to the combined effort of a few business and engineering majors.

Signed,

"Grande" Editors
